Update on Eli:  Barron's Feral Dog

For many months, many people had tried to capture the "feral" dog of Barron. In early summer of 2011,  Eli (named because of how elusive he was) finally arrived at HSBC, frightened, but safe.  To say the least, the shelter environment was overwhelming to him.  In all honesty, everything was overwhelming to him.  He was brought to us at NALC on that same day.  We had no idea how it was going to go...

Since that day, Eli has come a long ways.  He has been adopted by Roberta and he has adjusted very well to "civilization".  Eli lives with two other dogs, and of course, other foster animals.  He is incredibly smart, level headed, and funny.  His even-temperament and trusting nature contributed to his ability to accept people.  It didn't hurt that he was surrounded by other dogs--dogs that helped him gain confidence around all the "strange" and "new" things he was suddenly exposed too!  These days Eli spends a lot of time hanging out with Roberta and playing with the other dogs. His playfulness has really surfaced, and one of his favorite things to do is to jump in the air and spin round-and-round.  Eli is a good example of why Dogs Are Man's Best Friend.

NALC would like to extend a big thank you to local law enforcement and the Humane Society of Barron County for going out of their way to give each and every animal a fair chance. It is quite possible Eli would have met a different fate in other communities.

Featured Testimonial:

We would like to take a minute to compliment the team at Northwoods Animal Learning Center for the great job they did with our dog Jade.  She has been a pleasure to go on walks with now and warms up to guests much faster.  We also enjoyed the fact they are very accommodating to your training needs and wants.  Another great thing they offer is their in home training which is convenient on a busy schedule.  We will definitely be return customers.  Thanks again for the gift of a well mannered dog.
